“My friend started his project [insert crazy number] months ago and it is still not done.” A comment that has been heard by every builder and contractor out there. A comment that is becoming more common to hear by pool builders after the few pool company disasters that garnered media attention. A comment normally followed by what should be a simple question to answer: “How long will it take to build my pool?”. Between supply chain issues, difficulty finding skilled labor, and increased demand for pools it is becoming hard for some pool builders to know their own timelines. Pair that with some homeowners falling into scams, it is no wonder that it is becoming harder to get a straight answer to this question.
Well, our team decided to step in and provide some clarity on how long it takes to build a pool. Check out this infographic to get a better understanding of the pool construction timeline!
While we expect it to take 10-12 weeks to build your pool, many things can make this process take longer. Larger projects, bad weather, material shortages, and change orders are all things that can make the build process take longer. Especially here in Florida, unexpected rains can cause lots of delays!
Another thing to note: this is not the complete time frame, permitting is also a whole process of its own. On average, we see permitting take 6-8 weeks. If you would like to understand more about what happens during the permitting process, take a look at our “Demystifying Pool Permitting” blog post.
